Leica:

Exhibit 1

* Cannes Lions 2023

One photograph contains thousands of stories, and the Leica M11’s 60 megapixel sensor captures every single detail in precise clarity. With 60 megapixels, you can hone in on a single image without losing quality, and create worlds out of even the smallest elements.

But with this comes the question: What do you see, when you can see everything?

to show the power of 60 megapixels, Leica created Exhibit 1. Transforming a single photo shot on Leica M11 into dozens of unique images focussed purely on details of the original. Using these prints, we created a gallery exhibition out of a single photo, and a photo book which tells the stories behind these small details.  Everyone who had the chance to visit Exhibit 1 could immerse themselves into a curious and intriguing world that lies within a single photo. More than revealing hidden stories made with one click, Exhibit 1 makes us think about our own pictures, and the way we approach our own photography. It makes us wonder if we are really paying attention to what's right in front of us.

LOOK UP

5 calls from little brother.

10 work emails.

4 from accounting.

2 about new clients.

3 from HR.

1 about that new project.

There’s 4 texts to respond to.

18 candies to crush.

42 posts to like.

But it’s the weekend

and the misty horizon of the atlantic lies ahead.

Even work could feel good in a place like this.

SAND

Many millennia ago there was a great storm on this beach.

Rain came screaming out of the sky

and lightning split boulders with the force of giants.

The plants swung their arms and rooted their feet

holding on for dear life.

It was an angry day.

And little by little,

with every storm since,

this rugged coastline has turned into the soft playground,

of sand draped in the shadow,

that we frolic in today.

STRANGERS

When we see a beautiful stranger

they don’t seem nearly as strange.

Such is the nature of first meetings.

It started when they caught eachothers eyes.

She walked over and sat next to her.

They talked about the weather we’ve been having.

How she swears she saw a shark in the water once.

How they wish they went to the beach more often.

But mostly they talked about nothing.

They set up a date for next week

at that cafe that has little flowers printed on the dishware

and art bursting from between the cracks in the tile.
